I have the amazing opportunity to teach both 5th and 6th grade this year! This group of students is extremely hardworking and motivated to learn! They enjoy learning to read and working with others during the day. These kids are absolutely amazing!
My Project
Something that I have noticed this year, is my students respond very well to positive reinforcement as well as extrinsic motivation! I have had to opportunity to observe teachers that have been teaching much longer than me and stumbled across this amazing prize idea...water bottle stickers!
Students really respond whenever we can give them prizes that interest them!
I am trying to provide prizes that my 5th and 6th graders are going to enjoy and not find too "babyish". I have noticed that many of them enjoy decorating their water bottles, or personal computers with these stickers!
My hope is that providing these prizes will lead to an increase in classroom participation as well as a decrease in negative behavior.
