My Project

The 28 multicultural children who I spend most of my day with are extremely hardworking and come to school each day to do their absolute best. Although our classroom has the bare minimum in terms of supplies and equipment, my students make the best out of so little. It makes me feel extremely privileged to be their teacher. The children have also formed a bond with each other that goes beyond the walls of the classroom. They are very helpful to each other and the first ones to finish an assignment are also the first ones to want to help their classmates. My students are also a very giving group and although most of their families do not have funds to spare, the children recently emptied their own piggy banks to help raise money for little boys and girls with cancer.

My elementary school has started a new behavior support plan in order to encourage the students to be Respectful, Responsible and Safe!

We are going to be focusing on what it looks like to be Respectful, Responsible and Safe in the lunchroom, hallways, bathrooms, classrooms, school yard, auditorium, stairways, and water fountains. The teachers have created incentive charts for the students to work for something they really enjoy! My elementary is giving out, "Decatur Dough," which can be traded in for a treat. When a student is "caught" being responsible, respectful, or safe, the teacher can reward them with Decatur Dough. All of these prizes will be exchanged for students good behavior! Please help me to reward my students and encourage them to focus on the positive in all areas of my school! Thanks so much!
