My Students

I work at an inner-city school with a highly diverse population. At my school there are 35 different languages spoken and students come from all over the world. My school is a Title I school which means a high percentage of our students are considered "At-Risk" for not graduating and come from low-income families.

One of the things that I love about my school is the way our students support one another and respect their differences.

My Project

Every day, we see students on our campus demonstrating the characteristics we hope they bring into the real world. We do not want these characteristics to go unrecognized, and therefore have created what we call Valhalla dollars. Students earn them by doing something good for someone else, demonstrating the proper behavior, growing academically, and more. Students can save and spend their money in our school store that is run by our teachers. Our students get excited and show pride when they spend their hard-earned money. Please help our students in receiving real-life prizes they can utilize!
