Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Adolescence is such a pivotal time in the development of a person's life. I have the privilege of working with adolescents daily at Mater East. Middle school students can be challenging, but positive reinforcement can make the biggest difference in their behavior. Consider helping me accomplish the goal of building a classroom "store" where students can spend their PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) points.

Middle school students are less likely to have treasure boxes or stickers and gold stars, but I want to change that!

Creating an exciting PBIS Store will not only encourage more positive interactions among my students but will also get them engaged and excited in promoting a healthy class culture. When my natural leaders buy into positivity and participation, it creates a friendly competition amongst peers.

My students are always hungry! Having some snacks I know they constantly crave will help me tremendously to boost behavior management. Since some students have jokingly expressed that they are "too good" for normal pencils, purchasing mechanical pencils in bulk will become the ultimate bargaining chip in class. If funded, I will have enough for each of them!
