Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a K-3 Autistic Support Classroom. My students are my life- I basically view them as my own children. They are quite honestly the light of my life and I want to help them in every aspect possible-inside and outside of the classroom. Each student is unique, beautiful, special, and kind. They all have needs, but we choose to highlight their strengths. <3

My Project

The Breathe for Change Program is a virtual professional development which will help me to reach out to our community in ways that they may not have been reached before. This program will enable and empower educators, students, and families within the Webster community (and the entire Philadelphia inner city community) regarding their mental health, physical health, and social-emotional health. Yoga and mindfulness are SO important, especially in these unprecedented times. The trauma that our children have experienced within their young lives is beyond our scope of vision. In addition, the educators who are trying to get students engaged in learning and help them deal with their at-home situations are struggling with their own mental health and well-being.

This pandemic has affected us all as a community, and by assisting educators to be their best selves we can help students and families to be their best selves.

There is power in change, and this project can create positive change and growth beginning with educators and reaching outward. The virtual training takes place over the course of several months and will enable me to become certified to spread my knowledge and love by end of 2021.
