My Project

Healthy eating is powerful! Eighty percent of healthcare dollars in America go toward treating diet-related chronic diseases that junk foods fuel.

I don’t want to keep feeding this healthcare crisis — I want to change it.

What better than to give students the tools they need to make it happen.

In our afterschool class, we will focus on making food education, healthy choices, and cooking meals that grow straight from our lettuce farmstands. Students will become lifelong learners. By developing healthy eating habits early, students will achieve and maintain healthy body weight, consume important nutrients, and reduce the risk of developing health conditions such as high blood pressure and diabetes. Each week, we will create healthy meals that can be prepared in less than an hour.

By educating my students on good eating habits and nutrition and how to grow and cook food, I know I am setting them up for healthier lives. And it will trickle down to their families and their communities.
