My Project

Printing on Gelli plates, a type of gel printing plate, can be a valuable and enjoyable artistic experience for students. There are several reasons why I would like to add Gelli plates, and brayers to roll media onto the plates, to my high school’s art supplies.

Gelli plates are versatile, user-friendly, printmaking supply that does not require complex tools or equipment.

They are suitable for all skill levels, making them accessible to beginners and experienced artists alike. Gelli plates encourage creative experimentation. Students can explore various techniques, such as monoprinting, layering, masking, and texture creation, to develop their artistic skills and find their unique style. Students will feel a sense of instant gratification using this printing method because they can quickly see the results of their efforts. Gelli plates are reusable making them a cost-effective option as a printing method that creates low waste art.

In summary, Gelli plate printing offers a wide range of benefits for students, from its ease of use to its versatility and potential for creative exploration. It can enhance artistic skills, boost creativity, and foster a love for printmaking and art in general, making it a valuable addition to art and creative education.
