This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Gelli printmaking is a fun and accessible form of monoprinting that uses a gelatin-like printing plate to create unique, layered artwork. Unlike traditional printmaking methods, gelli printing does not require a press, making it an easy and engaging activity for students of all ages. By applying paint or ink to the flexible plate and using stencils, textures, and found objects, students can experiment with color blending, layering, and composition to create one-of-a-kind prints.

The benefits of gelli printmaking using these gelli plates, brayers and ink for students extend beyond artistic expression.

It encourages creativity, problem-solving, and experimentation as students explore different techniques and materials. This process also enhances fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and patience while allowing for a sense of discovery and play. Additionally, gelli printing fosters confidence, as there is no "right" or "wrong" way to create—each print is unique, encouraging students to embrace imperfections and happy accidents. Whether used in art classes, STEAM projects, or therapeutic settings, gelli printmaking is a valuable and engaging creative tool for students.
