My Students

Why can't we print our work? We don't have a printer. What a difference a color printer would make in an early childhood classroom.

I teach in a New York City public school and our borough of Queens is one of the most diverse areas in the nation.

Our multicultural school community is our wealth and what they bring to our school. The students and their families look to education for upward mobility and it is so important to start in the early grades. What we provide for our children will set the tone for their future success so we have to get it right. In today's world technology is a player in promoting literacy and academic rigor. We need to bring the best resources to our children to send the message to our families that they are important contributors to our society.

My Project

I am asking for a color printer and toner so that I can print the work my students create. To be able to print in color is crucial for young children who want to represent the world as they see it. I have selected a printer that is not too expensive and toner so I can print throughout the year. I hope that this project will be funded so we can print our work for the holidays. Our parents are hoping we will receive support. While not too expensive, it still is beyond our reach and so we are asking Donors Choose to help us secure what we believe will best promote literacy through students' printed work.

Having a printer in the class is a game changer because it will save me time that I can then devote to instruction.

I will be able to print students' work in my classroom and watch excited faces as they get their work minutes after completion. What a wonderful thing that would be for my eager young learners.
