Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day in my classroom involves reading and a lot of writing. While most of their writing is done by hand, it would be of great help to them to be able to type up their work and print it out. I also give them a lot of handouts, so copy paper is always at a premium.

My kids work incredibly hard.

Some of them have made real progress with their reading and writing skills. I want to help keep them on track with the necessary supplies. The teachers in my school are some of the most resourceful and self-reliant people I've ever known. We don't have a lot to work with budget-wise, so it's necessary to cut corners where we can, and get creative. The students are always appreciative of any extra contributions we can get that will help the learning process.

My Project

My students will be doing work on printed handouts, which will include writing assignments, quizzes, tests, and graphic organizers. The graphic organizers in particular will go along way toward helping them further develop their writing skills. Many of them have good ideas, but haven't quite learned how to organize their thoughts. The more examples I can provide for them, the better their writing and critical thinking skills will become.

Having a printer and a supply of paper will allow me to continue to provide handouts for the students.

I can also create additional resources on the spot for them, rather than waiting until the end of the day and using the community printer that we all share.
