My Students

A typical day in our classroom has students actively engaged in lessons and using tablets. At the end of the year I want students to be critical thinkers and applying learned knowledge to new situations. "The great myth of our times is that technology is communication." ~Libby Larsen

Students are a group of gifted scholars who love to create things from scratch.

They come from a vast range of cultures and are accepting of one another. These students have been with each other since Kindergarten. They work really well in groups and love to use technology to enrich and support their learning in the classroom. They all have their own sense of humor that brings life to the classroom. My school is a small family where there is a ton of support for new teachers like myself. There are only two classes per grade. Our school's focus this year is preparing students to be college ready and having students engage in discussion in every lesson and subject. We use technology for meetings, sharing documents, data and classroom interaction.

My Project

The students will use the printer and ink to print their essays that we develop in the classroom to post on the bulletin board and print their work for projects. Often times not everyone can print at home and some students hand in projects late because they want to print their finished product. Students love to work in groups and when presenting poster and projects they can print their images and resources for their project in the classroom instead of leaving the classroom and going to the technology teacher while they are teaching. With a printer in the classroom I can assess students within a lesson and challenge them with a new handout immediately. Within a lesson I see students within a tiered group are meeting their goals and I do not have enough copies of challenging work to give them. With a printer I can easily make copies to keep the students enriched during a lesson.

This donation will improve my classroom because students will not have to be stressed about not being able to print their essays and work at home because they do not have printers.

With most students handing in their projects on time I can give them timely feedback on their work. This project will change students' lives for the better because I can aid my visual learners with colorful images to enhance their learning and understanding of difficult concepts within lessons of all subjects.
