My Students

The budget crisis has truly impacted the classroom. The "technology" that is taken for granted in regular businesses - working printers and copiers - is not always available to classrooms anymore.

The students in my gifted/high ability magnet classroom come from very diverse backgrounds, both ethnically and socioeconomically.

School is a great equalizer. I love watching my students find common ground and work together in spite of their differences.

My Project

This fiscal crisis has impacted my school's ability to provide students with basic needs. We have 2 copiers and one Riesograph machine available to all 40 or so teachers on our campus. At any given time, 1, 2, or even all 3 machines are broken down, making it impossible to get practice work, tests, and other needed materials to my students. Combined with my 12-year old laserjet printer, which I struggle to print teacher-created materials, it is difficult to give my students the materials they need to succeed. A new laserjet printer/copier would make all of our lives so much easier.

By donating to my project, you will be providing my students the materials they need to learn and master skills, and to complete assignments.

It will allow us to have a room copier which we will use to make math and language arts worksheets, copy notes to go home to parents, teacher instructions, diagrams and graphs for math, and artwork for language arts writing projects and many other uses.
