This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Making a linocut is fun and a bit difficult. It definitely makes you feel like a fine artist. It has a long tradition of making multiple prints of one image. My students are very in tune with printing images from printers but do not have the satisfaction of making something with their bare hands, inking it, and making as many prints as they like.

The confidence one earns by carving and then printing an image that looks great is what I am striving for with my students.

I want to make the carving experience a fun one that does not make them frustrated. This is why I want to use this material which is almost eraser material to carve their printing blocks. Once the carving part is made better and easier, the students will achieve more and not tire their hands.
