This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

With the resources given, we try to provide our students with the best educational experiences inside the classroom. But as we all know, it is a struggle to to provide students with diverse needs with the educational materials that meet their various stages of learning. The key is to give them access to various types of handouts and materials that will peak their interests and engage them in learning material at their academic level.

Being a Title I school in the Bronx, where 99 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch, our students have diverse needs and have very limited to no resources at home to further or foster academic goals.

Our students deserve the opportunity to engage in materials at their learning level.

My Project

Witnessing the students return back to school this school year has been exciting and nerve racking. Due to the pandemic effects on education, it is widely known that students have suffered a "learning gap." This is especially true for students who already struggle, our Special Education students. As I assess my students to ascertain where they currently are academically, it is heartbreaking to see how their academics have suffered and how this "learning gap" is real. But what gives me hope are my student's smiles as they come into the classroom in the morning with eagerness to learn.

It is their eagerness to learn and the reality of the academic challenges they face, that has made me realize that my students need resources and activities that will motivate, entertain and challenge them.

A printer will allow me to design interactive and engaging lessons and materials that will meet their individual needs, as well as provide students with visuals and pictures for students with language and communication challenges.
