This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are creative, curious and eager to learn! They love hands-on, engaging activities that support access to the General Education Curriculum! Before, students came to school daily, ready to try new things and take risks to grow both personally and academically despite challenges. Now students embark on their educational journey at home with families adjusting to lost loved ones, unemployment, and uncertainty.

Although many of my students have access to technology at home, most families feel intimidated by all digital engagement and request more hands-on materials or they have difficulty completing assignments due to lack of supplies and resources.

Our Title 1 Public School serves Pre-K to 5th graders of mixed needs and abilities in the Northern Bronx. Since learning needs and styles vary, providing multiple access points by blending physical and digital resources will help ensuring successful learning and help managing screen time. When a variety of learning strategies, practice, and structured learning options are presented to ensure each student's needs are met, students truly learn and retain! I have an incredible group of 14 special needs Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders, who I thankful for as new or returning learners, filled with excitement and ready to learn!

My Project

Students will be able to print remote assignments at home and engage in more non-digital independent work during the learning day. Printers will also save struggling families money, time and support 1-to-1 engagement for my special needs students.

This project will enable families to print out assignments, activities and visual supports like anchor charts, teacher/student models, printable incentives, additional practice of a skill, parent resources, student work, and supportive work templates for reading, writing and mathematics that will enhance remote learning and help alleviate screen time management for families and my special needs learners.
