Our school adopted/rescued a 5 year old yellow bellied slider turtle. Students have been learning about turtles, collecting data on her diet, and caring for her environment. Our turtle is in need of an upgraded space, as she has continued to grow! She has been in an aquarium. Now she is moving to an indoor pond!
These supplies will help us make the new space clean and comfortable for Princess, while students continue to observe and care for her.
Having Princess in our classroom has enabled students that may not otherwise have an opportunity to care for a pet, to see what it is like to be in close proximity to another living thing. Students have shown courage and empathy, learned about data collection, and practiced proper hand washing skills.
