My Project

Steps away from a lush community garden on our historic East Los Angeles campus, globally-minded citizens are the most important things we grow here! Our school has created a place where a one of a kind indoor/outdoor rural learning space sets the stage for real-world, hands-on curriculum focused on empowering students to be lifelong critical thinkers impacting the environment and global needs. Every day is an opportunity for our students to explore their place in the world and think about how they can make it better!

On Thursdays my classroom is home to our school’s “Skittles” club where all students are welcomed and accepted.

We’ve recently joined the California GSA Network and we realized that the classroom library was low on books featuring LGBTQIA+ experiences.

My students are caring and humorous and curious. Despite the high quality programming and expectations we have for our students, we are still a 100% Title 1 school. Our ethnic population is approximately 92% Hispanic or Latino, about 17% are English Language Learners (ELLs), and around 16% receive Special Education services.
