Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My school is a District 75 high school in the South Bronx. D75 is citywide district in NYC that exclusively serves students with disabilities who receive special education services. The students at my school have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and/or emotional disturbances. Many previously attended community schools and transferred to our school to receive additional supports.
Last June, our school held its first ever Pride event to rave reviews from students who felt seen, acknowledged, and celebrated.
This year, we hope to build on the foundation of last year’s successful event for an even more exciting library Pride lunch this year. This project will fund snacks, drinks, and flags for all attendees so that everyone can celebrate!
