Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students range from Pre-K through 5th grade and they all have Individualized Education Programs. The majority of my students live in lower income housing, projects, or shelters in the south Bronx, NY. These students are energetic, charming, and sweet! Many of them need additional assistance in fine motor skills, which are some of the underlying effectors of handwriting, and classroom tool manipulation.

Through these materials, my students will receive a double dose of learning!

The learning resource buzzers and alphabet flip chart will help my students practice and learn the letters, numbers, and sight words in a fun manner. Similarly, the pop up letters, hand2grab monster, and color sorting sensory toys will support fine motor skill development with a double twist! These items will support hand-skill development and social skills. Likewise, the dollhouse refrigerator toy, and magnetic desktop tabletop stands will serve for both socialization and life skills acquisition during pretend play. All of these materials will be used during occupational therapy sessions.
