Preserving Our Musical Heritage: Ukuleles and Folk Music!

Help me give my students quality HUAWIND 21 Inch Soprano Ukuleles for Beginners. I also added a few tuners. The bags will protect our ukuleles in storage and trips to and from the school!

My Students

Mott-Regent School District is a Title 1 school that serves the small, neighboring rural farming communities of Mott and Regent in southwest North Dakota. Our students are active in a wide variety of activities. Many of our students not only participate in athletics, music, and other school activities, but also are integral in the family farm operations which support their families and our community.

One of the most impressive attributes of our school is how all our kids, from Kindergarten to 12th grade are part of our Wildfire family.

Our school from elementary to high school is housed under one roof, fostering strong bonds and a sense of belonging and accountability with each other.

My Project

Our Title 1 School in rural North Dakota is filled with creative minds! In music class, I help students access their artistic side.

My 4th graders lit up when they saw we were doing a ukulele unit!

Unfortunately, it was soon apparent most of our classroom ukuleles were so old, the glue was coming apart, the plastic tuning pegs were crumbling, and several were broken beyond repair. However, my students soldiered on, but with disappointing results.

So I would like to reward their efforts with new ukuleles, which will not only be used by this year's class but also in many future classes!
