Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a 5th grade public school teacher at a bilingual school who wants my students to have as many opportunities as possible to express themselves in writing and to share their work with their peers.

Access to technology is always a barrier for students to have an even playing field in life. Thus, by giving my students access to creating digital stories or presenting PowerPoint in my class gives my students both confidence and technological savvy early on in life.

What I need in my classroom is a publishing center, both digital and on paper. What this would entail is an LCD projector so my students can give presentations of the digital stories they have created, present work on the class blog, and present their research via PowerPoint. To have it be a permanent piece in the classroom, a laserjet printer would also be much needed resource. The LCD projector and the printer will help create a classroom community of writers and publishers, as well as computer literate kids!

You will make it possible for my students to out-tech me within a few months because kids can grab and run with technology with a fearless curiosity that can help teach us adults!
