My Students

PALs is short for Preschool for All Learners. But, I prefer to say it means Positively Awesome Littles! In my PALs there are just four little ones, ages 3 and 4, working on developing social skills, language skills, math skills, literacy skills, and physical development skills. All of these skills will help them be better prepared for the transition to kindergarten. My PALs program is part of a larger Title I School in a lower socio-economic area of Southern California. My little ones are struggling SO hard during this time of remote learning! They have a range of abilities, and all of them have some communication differences, so it makes it hard when they can only see me on a screen!

The PALs curriculum is a play-based learning experience for the Awesome Littles.

Before we went remote, my students loved to play doctor in our dramatic play area, set up freeways on our play mat, use their developing fine motor skills to play with LEGOs, and dance daily to the Freeze Dance. We used our classroom iPad daily to play Super Simple Songs, and of course their favorite Baby Shark!

My Project

I am requesting two iPads and keyboards. Since we have gone to remote learning, I’ve had to cobble together technology to connect with my students. It has been a challenge to engage them from home. I have a 10-year-old computer, my littles don’t have the greatest devices, and I have two assistants who are working with ancient technology.

I really want to improve my connection with the kids!

PALs (preschools for all learners) is my passion, and I really want to go back to playing songs daily, but I need faster, better, technology to do it. Having these iPads with keyboards would enable me and one of my assistants to engage with the students daily using their favorite songs and apps. With the new technology, I can plan lessons around their favorite songs! With song motivation, comes increased communication! Help me increase communication skills! They need their Baby Shark Fix!
