Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

During the hot summer days or the rainy season, our preschool class can not go outside to the playground. But our young students still need to exercise, especially since for many of them school is the only place where they can be physically active on a daily basis. Thus, we have introduced our students to various yoga exercise activities. And our students' response has been phenomenal these last few years. Even though our classroom rug space is limited, our students do their best to stretch during the yoga poses in their "imaginary bubble". But sometimes they end up accidentally hitting each other because they don't have a mat to keep them in place.

This is why it is so important for our young children to get yoga mats.

With each student having a mat, they would be able to stay in their place while having lots of fun and getting the much-needed physical activity in those inclement weather days.

I teach in a collaborative classroom. I am the general education teacher who co-teaches with a special education teacher. All our students have benefited tremendously from the yoga activities by keeping their little bodies active and healthy. With your help, our students will now be able to enjoy these activities better and hopefully create in them a habit of exercise in their lives.
