My Project

My students are pre-kindergarten students who meet the state requirements and are labeled as being "at-risk" of not succeeding; thus, they are placed in the program to help them succeed. They are four years of age and live in a medium-large city. My school follows the "Nurtured Heart" philosophy, where we work to find greatness in each child. In my classroom, I try to make each child comfortable and part of our school family.

Gill Connell says, "A moving child is a learning child." I want my children to keep moving and learning.

This project will allow my children to keep moving, by updating our outdoor equipment. Our ball storage was obtained through a local garage sale source and is falling apart, and needs to be replaced. In addition, our balls have also seen a lot of hard use and are beginning to fall apart, so they are also needing to be replaced. We do not have a small parachute in our own classroom, and I would love us to have our own (instead of borrowing the one next door). The other equipment, including the t-ball equipment, wiffle balls, sand toys, and airplanes, will add to materials we have in the outdoor classroom to enhance what is there.

Adding these materials to our outdoor classroom will make our outdoor time more enjoyable for our students and make their play more meaningful.
