My Project

My students are prekindergarten students who meet the state requirements and are labeled as being "at-risk" of not succeeding; thus, they are placed in the program to help them succeed. They are four years of age and live in a medium-large city. My school follows the "Nurtured Heart" philosophy, where we work to find greatness in each child. In my classroom, I try to make each child comfortable and part of our school family. Many of our children are learning how to regulate emotions; our calm corner is in regular use, as children learn how to calm down and relax.

Gregory Macguire says, "Remember to breathe; it is, after all, the secret of life." This project is requesting some breathing, soothing calming toys, for the children to use, both in the calm corner and at nap time.

These will be used both in my classroom and in the preschool room next door, as both rooms often share curricular materials and ideas. I am requesting 4 Otters for my classroom and 3 Koalas for next door; they will join the koala that she used last year successfully. I hope these will make a good addition to our classroom, and help our classroom remain calm.
