Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a struggling, high needs, urban neighborhood in New York City. Our school is a warm, nurturing environment and the children enjoy coming to school. I am currently teaching eighteen, lovable preschoolers who are curious, funny, loving and eager to learn. The parents of our students are working hard to make a better life for their families and desire a stellar education for their children.

My little ones are curious, imaginative, loving, creative, honest and cute.

The community is diverse and considerably lower income. The children I teach are all eager to learn and are enthusiastic. My classroom is comprised of children who are learning English and also with children who have different abilities.

My Project

Our classroom does not have a computer printer. We need a printer to print photos, letters to parents, and for lesson planning. Many educational and publishing companies have writing pages that you can print off on your own printer. These writing pages would really help the children learn how to properly form their upper and lower case letters. Many of these pages help children learn how to write their letters on standard penmanship paper, which is an age-appropriate developmental skill. We could also print mazes that will help the children with skills such as hand and eye control, motor coordination and fine motor skills. You can find fun mazes online to print from your home computer. Matching games are another fun activity that can be printed. We could also print pages identifying related pairs that will help the children's critical thinking skills and hones their dexterity. We are constantly printing photos of the children in action in the classroom.
