My Students

As my students turn three years old, they transition from birth to 3 to the preschool classroom. The class consists of 50% of children with IEPs under developmental delay and 50% peer playmates. Everything is new to them. They are all learning the rules and routines of the classroom and school. Many of my students are non-verbal and they are motivated by their peers to communicate. It’s amazing to see how quickly they figure out how to navigate the school environment. They meet new people and make new friends!

My Project

HWT provides a multi-sensory, developmental approach to teaching basic skills. Through songs and hands-on fun, the preschoolers learn how to identify body parts, sequence the drawing of a person, make upper case letters with wooden pieces, and so much more. We use the wooden pieces in the classroom daily. I would like to provide a set for each child for practice at home. I currently have seven fully remote learners who are not getting the benefit of using the HWT wooden pieces in the classroom. I also have 17 hybrid students who are remote two days a week. I am hoping to have live Google Meets that focus on the HWT curriculum on at-home days.
