My Students

Our classroom is an open and inviting environment designed to foster independent student learning. My students are thirsty for new materials to continue their education.

I teach in a public urban multi-age Montessori school with 65 first through sixth-grade students.

My students learn through small group and individual lessons, research and inquiry, and by going out into our community. My students come from all different backgrounds, racially and socioeconomically, and live in an urban setting. My co-teacher and I are piloting a combined Montessori 1st-6th grade classroom.

My students are involved in social justice and environmental conscious movements, taking a stand and trying to better the world. Our students work hard with the resources they have to follow their passions and find meaning in their education. In case you are wondering... I have the greatest students in the history of the world.

My Project

The right supplies for a project can make all the difference.

In our Montessori classroom, students receive specific art lessons, but also have an expectation to beautify their work: make it challenging, make it substantial, and make it beautiful!

For our art lessons, we need paper that is right for our tasks. We do lessons with watercolor, tempera, and acrylic paint, which need a heavier weight. We also often do collages, ink work, and other media. We are asking for two different sizes of watercolor paper so that our students can complete follow-up works to their art lessons and beautify work from other content areas.
