My Students

The students I serve each day come to our school facing a variety of challenges. Living in the most dangerous section of our capital city, these children have been faced with hardships in their eight years that many could not imagine in a lifetime.

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world" -Nelson Mandela.

This quote perfectly describes my efforts as I push my students to persevere through their challenges, to the success that lies ahead of them.

My Project

"Quiet the mind at the soul will speak". The students of Stanton Elementary face a constant battle each day to combat the violence and trauma of their neighborhood. Though all of this is known, little has been done in order to give students the skills to maintain a sense of peace and calm throughout whatever storm life has offered.

Meditation and the practice of children's mindfulness and yoga has created quite a buzz in the work against childhood trauma.

I want to help my students become successful in a meaningful way. My students will benefit greatly from daily meditation practice in conjunction with a mindfulness curriculum. My students need the requested yoga mats and cushions so they can be successful.
