Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My student-athletes all come from low-socioeconomic homes, where they are placed on free or reduced lunch. Some of my athletes have to take care of their younger siblings, while their parent(s) or guardian work late at night. They also have to do all of this while maintaining their academics to stay eligible for basketball. It can be a struggle for them at times on game days and for practices, worrying about their household situation as a young teenager. As their head coach, I try my best to make sure my student-athletes have everything they need to be successful on and off the court.

The list of items that I am requesting will help them focus more in practice and have a better game day experience while they are attending Hartman Middle School.

The Bluetooth speaker will enhance the game day experience by letting the team add music in-between timeouts and breaks during our home games. The personal head-set and megaphone will help enhance our practices, because they will be able to hear my directions and instructions much clearer, instead of me screaming at them all practice. As a token of appreciation, the basketball drawstring bags and necklace pendants will be giving to each player who successfully completed the season with A's and B's while demonstrating leadership behavior all season.
