Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a title 1 school in NYC. My classroom is composed of students that come from a broad range of backgrounds. The one thing they all have in common is a desire to go to college and become successful individuals. I have noticed that the majority of my students fail to see the beauty in science which I attribute to the lack of exposure they've had on the field, something I plan to change.

My students are bright, eager, and passionate about what they do.

They are creative, innovative, and inspirational. They motivate me every day to come up with new ideas to challenge them and ignite their love of learning. Despite the difficulties they endure in their lives they are optimistic of what the future can bring.

My Project

My students have difficulty when it comes to test taking. This is due to the lack of exposure to advanced level questions like the ones presented in the AP biology course. The Albert io software will help students practice and familiarize themselves with the types of questions that they will see on the AP exam.

My students come from a low socioeconomic background so the majority of them cannot afford test prep books and other resources that may help them.

In my classroom, I integrate technology so all my students can efficiently use computers and a variety of software. Many of the resources I provide for them are online.
