Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 6th grade students have limited supplies of materials to complete assignments.

Our school has provided starter supplies, such as a notebook, lined paper, color pencils, pencils, and glue, in the beginning of the school year.

My students have used all materials and are in need of supplies. I incorporated art projects, but was informed most students share supplies with their siblings. When we did a drawing, my students did not have blank paper. I was shown drawings on lined paper or on a napkin.

Most of my students are not able to pick up supplies from school for various reasons.

Please provide my students with basic art supplies in a container. The container will help with organization of supplies, and help them feel like artists.

My Project

Teachers are expected to attend professional development for Language Arts and Math. We are given strategies to improve test scores. We are inundated with new testing programs. Teachers are expected to follow a pacing schedule. It is all about increasing test scores.

What about the emotional growth of the students?

With the art supplies requested, student will experiences art through authentic art supplies. Using art pencils will give them the feel what artist use in sketching.

Through Art I want my students to express themselves in their drawings. Some students struggle in academic areas, in Art a letter grade is not important. All students are creative.
