My Project

Y34 is a 6:1:1 self-contained class. The students are all autistic; some minimally verbal and some non-verbal. Preparedness and organization are some qualities I strive to instill in my students every day. Our students learn better when there is classroom organization and routines. By helping us attain these supplies, teachers will be prepared to assist their students into the oncoming school year.

Visuals play a vital key in the education of children with autism.

If the students are reminded daily of the same routines and practices, there is a greater chance of the students remembering what was taught. Having an image to associate with anything from a place to a rule to an assignment, our students are usually visual learners and retain more information if there is an image involved.

Teachers and paraprofessionals of class Y34 have worked tirelessly to ensure our students have what they need to be successful, but we have now run out of supplies for the upcoming school year. Crafting together visuals even onto the desks to be covered with the contact paper will help us prepare our students for the school year and the world after school.
