Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

About My Students

Michelle, Tatiana, Joshus and 12 other students are part of the newly formed American Red Cross at our school. They are ambitious, intelligent, caring students who want the school to transition into the 21st century. That is, they want to have more tech savvy students, teachers, and parents.

They spoke to me and we discussed what was missing as part of the the American Red Cross. We discovered that we could address family needs to our school family.

The students spent time brainstorming ideas of what supplies would help them the most in their quest to help the most people at our school. After careful consideration and evaluation of our schools needs, we decided that hurricane supplies are needed.

I am requesting some microwave ovens.We use these ovens to supply snacks for individuals attending our mini workshops.

The microwave ovens will also help to show students and families the value of having easy to prepare meals ready in case of an emergency. These lessons will help our families in need of extra meal preparation in case of an emergency.

In Their Own Words

Our goal will help students and families prepare for another emergency. We have been impacted by storms and hurricanes this year and we feel that our students and families need the extra help at this time. We will have meetings and food will be provided to the participants who attend.

Our students will help our community "bounce back" from our a summer of hardships that hit our school. We will make sure that students and their families know how to prepare for another hurricane or weather storm event. We would like to provide food and snacks to participants who attend.

Students and families through our Red Cross Club will sponsor guest speakers to educate our faculty, staff, community and families through a hurricane crisis. We would like to provide refreshments for the guest speakers. In addition , the students will attend sponsored events through the American Red Cross provided by members,
