My Project

Last school year, my first graders and I were blessed to receive DonorsChoose donations that helped me to provide the classroom essentials for them! These essentials, such as pencils, glue sticks, chart paper, and pencil pouches, are critical to ensuring we can do exciting, engaging activities in the classroom, but are often not provided by the Title I school in which I work. This year, I will be following my students from 1st grade to 2nd grade and want to start preparing for another successful year together!

My students all come from a low-income neighborhood and often do not come to school with the necessities they need to do their best work.

In order to take this burden off of them and their families, my hope is that I can provide these classroom essentials for them so that we can get to the business of learning! My motivation always comes from the poem, "Cause I Ain't Got a Pencil," which highlights the real-life challenges that my students face outside of school. Making my classroom a safe space, where all that they need to be successful is provided for them, is one of my biggest goals.

I am so grateful for the DonorsChoose community and all that you have already done for my students and I! With your help, I hope to make next school year as successful as this one has been!
