This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Fidget toys can be a highly effective tool in a preschool classroom, offering benefits that support focus, emotional regulation, and sensory needs.

Fidget toys support focus and attention, emotional regulation, sensory needs, fine motor skill development, and positive classroom environment.

Fidget toys provide a subtle form of sensory input that helps children stay engaged during lessons or activities. For children who struggle to sit still or concentrate, such as those with ADHD or sensory processing challenges, fidgeting can channel excess energy in a non-disruptive way, improving their ability to focus on tasks.

Studies show that using fidget tools like stress balls or tactile toys can increase on-task behavior and reduce distractions, even for young learners.

Preschoolers often experience heightened emotions as they navigate social and learning environments. Fidget toys can serve as calming tools, helping children manage stress and anxiety through repetitive movements like squeezing, twisting, or popping. This self-soothing mechanism fosters emotional stability.

Many preschoolers have varying sensory thresholds. Fidget toys provide tactile stimulation that helps children with sensory processing challenges regulate their input. This can make it easier for them to participate in group activities and focus during structured learning times.

Manipulating fidget toys strengthens hand muscles and improves dexterity. Activities like squeezing stress balls or twisting fidget cubes enhance fine motor skills essential for tasks such as writing and drawing.
