This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My excited scholars in grades Pre-Kindergarten to third grade work together; singing, speaking, reading and writing in Spanish. All students are all able to "Saludarte" (greet you formally in Spanish) with the utmost politeness and cheer. Nearly 90 percent of my students come from low-income homes and would benefit from dual language learning for the future. The scholars are passionate about their language learning and enjoy speaking Spanish.

My students are PreK-3rd grade elementary scholars speaking Spanish in Brownsville!

The scholars need more books and appropriate aged songs that work with the curriculum they are learning. The Spanish program began only a year ago and resources are scarce. Help my young scholars use appropriate level books and songs to help them remember the days of the week and become the best readers and speakers! Each day the scholars walk around the neighborhood ecstatic to practice their new language, in corner stores and with family members. Support our school and families to become dual language speakers in a global world!

My Project

These materials will be used to help the young scholars practice and retain their Spanish knowledge. The books and listening centers will engage the students and provide hands-on Spanish materials. I read from the projector and often the students wish they had books and works in their hands. With the printer and books for students they will be able to break into groups and dive deeper into the language. The iPads will be used for small group or individual work for scholars who need to practice specific topics using educational games or listening to books.

PreK and Kindergarten scholars will have book centers and dramatic play to act out Spanish skits they created!

Give my students the opportunity to learn using unique Spanish materials that are wonderful and useful for their age!
