Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our learners have diverse needs, but all have the same goal, Academic Success! Alternative seating and surfaces help students with hyperactivity and sensory needs wiggle and move around safely without being a distraction from work. Other tools give them silent ways to meet their different sensory conditions, such as stress balls and fidget spinners. These tools will help to remove some of the barriers to academic progress for our students and help them to make the best of their learning experience. We are hoping to add some stools to our classroom! It is important to give students opportunities to work in different places with their classmates throughout the day.

This flexible seating will be moved around our space and support working in small groups, as well as facilitating students working in partnerships around the classroom.

Moving bulky chairs can be difficult with limited space. These beanbags and other flexible seats are easily stored and lightweight, making them safe for students to maneuver. We all know how much kids love to move! Not only do they love to move but they NEED to move! These tools will allow students to wiggle, wobble, lean, and rock.

How will these stools help students learn?

Great question! Movement increases blood flow and oxygen flow to the brain keeping young minds alert, focused and engaged!

Also, I hope to create a more comfortable and inviting environment for my students!
