My Project

Some of our students are identified as having special needs. Our families had challenges before COVID-19 affected them. Now their challenges are even greater.

The majority of my scholars' time is spent INSIDE our classroom.

This is asking my students to sit still, pay attention, and work within small groups, whole group, and independently IN THE SAME SEAT for a long duration of time. Due to COVID, my scholars still need to wear masks also. I want to help give them a small choice in their learning. As an April Fools joke, I lowered each of my scholars' desks. Well, the joke was on me! They actually enjoyed their desks in this manner. The next weekday, I told them that I was going to RAISE their desks back to normal size. They voiced their opinions constructively. Most of them WANT their desks to remain low to the ground. I have a few beach chairs that fit perfectly under the lower desks. My scholars seemed to really enjoy their desks being so low. The only thing I need to get is more low beach chairs!! The few that I have in class were shared. It was so nice to see their kindness and willingness to share shine through!!

I want to help my fourth-grade scholars by giving them a choice with correct size seating to match while they are engaged in their work. These chairs can be used both inside AND outside since they are easily foldable and lightweight.
