My Students

We are a happy group from the area of Santa Monica, CA. From the exterior, one can tell my students are awesome by their outlook on life. They are quick to smile, show affection, and like all students crave positive interactions with both their community and peers. Anyone that knows my students will say that they do not have a mean bone in their bodies. Some might say that it takes an enormous amount of patience to serve this kind of population, but when you have the students that I do and you try to see from their position, the development of purpose and perspective almost automatically take place.

Our purpose is to highlight a student's strengths and needs, make a plan to improve the quality of resources given, and implement a guide to lead them towards a brighter tomorrow.

This is only done by getting to know who my students are, learning how to attain the best tools, and finding a way to reach them. With your help, we will be able to reach even further.

My Project

Our goal throughout our time together has been to continue expanding our learning. My students have experienced creating their own photo-yearbook using instax film. This year, we will take it to the next level as several of my students are seniors.

As we seize each day, we choose to make each moment count and wish to create lasting memories that will endure long after each student's school career.

This may be accomplished using the tools requested here to highlight the present as we will take community trips to several nearby murals. Students will not only be in the pictures and help create both a hardcover photobook, as well as a digital flashdrive to keep, but will also be taking photos using the tripod, for stability, of their peers and each student's specific staff member who helped them excel during their tenure as students.

There are many murals of created by the Global Angel Wings Project nearby in the community, as well as several festive community events that we will take part of. We will also document our daily routines using the camera to show students doing functional tasks geared towards independent living, such as cooking, laundry, and practicing social skills. The memory card will help ensure we have enough space to capture and keep everything we take pictures of to have a large data bank to begin creating a classroom yearbook in the spring.
