My Students

Every morning, we begin our day with the Morning Meeting. The Circle Time visual aid requested is interactive. This will allow the children to be active members on their journey to learn the alphabet, days of the week, months of the year, the weather, ordinal and cardinal numbers.

My students are 3 and 4 year old Pre-Kindergarten students.

"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn."- Benjamin Franklin. This quote describes my students 100%. My students are active learners... Manipulatives work best for my students. My students enjoy center time, coloring, drawing, and writing. This Pre-Kindergarten classroom truly enjoys actively learning!! My school is a warm, fun loving Title I school in the Flatlands section of Brooklyn, NY., more than half of the students qualify for free lunch.

My Project

The Circle Time Learning Center will make our Morning Meeting come alive! The Learning Center has manipulatives, that will allow the children to take an active role in their learning. My students will have the opportunity to use pencils, crayons and paper, to scribble, draw, color and create wonderful stories. These activities will help to ensure development of fine motor skills, build self confidence and encourage learning and creativity. The children will also be able to enjoy their center time activities so much more with the pretend family. These pretend families will help them to understand the dynamics of a family. The Magna Tiles will be a terrific way to introduce children to magnets. The children will have a hands on learning experience of how magnets work! The play-dough cookie cutters will help to strengthen the children's fine motor skills. This will help the children to form their ABC's, 123's and to tie their shoes; that is why the shoe with shoe lace is needed.

These donations will have a positive impact on the way that my students express themselves.

My students will enjoy their pretend play a lot more with the family. Play-dough will be a lot more interesting with the cut outs. Wow, just imagine a classroom of four year olds, being able to tie their shoes, and then using the paper, pencils and crayons to draw a picture of themselves tying a shoe.
