Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a rural school that is 77.3% Economically Disadvantaged. I have some students who start school knowing their letters, numbers, how to count, how to rhyme, etc. I also have students who start school not knowing their colors, or the first letter in their name or even what letters or numbers are. My students come to school with diverse learning needs.

I love my kids who come to my classroom.

It is so exciting to see them learn and grow throughout the year. We work very hard to fill in the gaps for these lower academic students, but still encourage the higher academic students to continue to grow. I hope that by the time the end of the year comes my students are showing readiness for kindergarten.

It is amazing watching the students in my room learn!

My Project

Right now our school has a limited supply of iPads that we have to check out, depending on availability. I would love to have a class set of Kindle Fires that are for my classroom to use whenever needed. We have found apps that help with reading, math, science, computer coding and many other things. There are so many ways that they can be used.

I would love for my students to have the opportunity to use technology as they learn.

Students don't realize that it is learning if they are interested and having fun! There are so many apps that would interest and meet the needs of different students in my classroom.
