Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Help create fun learning centers for my Pre-Kindergarten students that engage in sensory-based learning. A sensory play area would encourage open-ended thinking, language development, collaboration, and build fine motor skills at their formative age. Engaging in learning through hands-on activities will give my students the opportunity to learn math, reading, and writing.

Most students rely on the opportunities presented in the classroom to learn fundamental English language and academic skills.

However, my students' socioeconomic disadvantage means they depend on our resources for the essential fun of childhood. Together we can build learning centers that will help my pre-kindergarten students open their minds while expanding their imagination. To build a classroom where students can learn, be creative, and enjoy an unforgettable pre kindergarten school year.

Our school is in the heart of the Gulfton area of Houston, Texas. We serve students in grades PreK, K-5 and 100 percent of our 975 students receive free breakfast and lunch. Our school population is 87 percent Hispanic in a community of refugees and immigrant families. Our students are curious, enthusiastic, and always eager to learn through any obstacle. Help my 24 pre-kindergarten students build a positive association with learning, by providing them with the materials needed to create a fun interactive classroom.
