My Students

Learning science through reading is OK, but my students need hands on materials to become real scientists.

There are 18 energetic three and four year old children in my class.

Our school includes students from pre-k to eighth grade. It is in a high poverty area and about 95% of the students in the school receive free lunch. Our school is in a low-income neighborhood where the budget cuts have left no hope that materials will be purchased in the near future.

My Project

We just received a wonderful science/discovery table with the generosity of donors here on donorschoose.org and we have a lot of great books on all kinds of science related topics, but we don't have any hands on science materials for my student to begging their scientific explorations. The materials I am will give my student these opportunities. They will get to explore in the classroom with the magnet set, ladybug habitat and science sets. Then they will get to take their curiosity outside as they explore with the binoculars.

I really want to provide high quality hands on opportunities for my students to build a love for science.

By learning science through exploration not just reading I hope to encourage my students to love science.
