This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 4-year-old students are full of wonder, hope, and life! My school is located inside a HOMELESS SHELTER in an urban area. My students have faced many obstacles in their lives, yet they work hard to overcome their challenges.

Every day my students work hard to learn, achieve and grow to their potential.

My students are 65% Hispanic and 35% African-American. Their parents make less than 20 thousand dollars annually, or receive government assistance. My students work to reach the stars and above. Please help me with my classroom.

My Project

I am requesting STEM kits and two laptop computers to begin my students' Science and Technology education in Pre-K. Incorporating STEM activities in Pre-K will give my students a head start in their science and technology. Lesson plans will include the incorporation of STEM kits for engineering, critical thinking, and computer coding. A baseline assessment will be given to each student to assess their growth at the end of the school year.

Full STEAM Ahead will allow homeless students to learn critical thinking, engineering skills, and basic computer coding using the laptops.

The kits will be used during STEM time in my classroom. Students will build structures, organize cities, and learn coding to move Lego structures.

With your help, my students will have their STEM education learning goals tracked from the onset of the program through usage of STEM kits and at culmination of the school year. Learning gains in STEM will be tracked for all students via Excel spreadsheets and digital photography archives. The program will have a certificate of completion that will be granted at the end of the school year.
