Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am the Pre-K physical therapist for a NYC public school. We have 4 regular pre-k classrooms and one special education class. I mostly work with the special education population (limited verbal expression with gross motor delays) however I plan on sharing the requested items with all the pre-k students at the school. These items are also durable and will last many years to come.
My Project
I am a physical therapist working in a large inner-city elementary school. The school recently started a pre-k and 3-k program however we lack the appropriate equipment.
These balance boards will allow the students to free-play, exploring their balance and protective responses.
At the moment we are almost completely void of equipment for our pre-k population to work on their gross motor skills. We have 5 classes in our school, one being a special-needs population (3-k & pre-k grades)! I'm looking to rectify this situation. This funding request is a small start and they will need much more equipment but I don't want to ask for too much per request. I would be greatly appreciative if you would also consider my other requests. We do not even have a minimal basic level of equipment appropriate for pre-k gross motor play.
