My Project

South Dakota nominates books for their Prairie Bud (Kindergarten and 1st grade) Prairie Bloom (2nd and 3rd grade) kids' choice awards. With my small library budget, I am not able to purchase all of the books on the list. You can make up that difference!

Each year I read these books aloud to my students; then after reading the books they are able to vote on their favorite.

My students LOVE voting for their favorite and feeling included, like the other children in our state. Without your support, they would not be included in this state-wide kids' choice award.

Another thing my students love is the fact that they can then check out the book that has been read to them. If I borrow the book from another school or local library, I don't have that freedom of sharing the book over and over again through checkout. I cannot count how many times my littles come up to me and say "Can I have THAT one" pointing to the book we just read aloud. There is power in being able to reread a familiar tale, especially one they already connected to.

Thank you for providing this opportunity for my students. Without you, I'm not sure how it would be possible!
