Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My high school students are Central American immigrants brand new to the country. They have been through a lot, and they are excited to learn English so that they can have a shot at having a good life in the United States.

Studies have shown that reading bilingual books improves vocabulary and grammar in both languages.

It is important that my students improve their English literacy, but it is equally important that they continue to improve their Spanish literacy as well.

To encourage my students to read in both languages, I have chosen a selection of high interest books from their favorite genres: romance, horror, and soccer.
