Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a second grade teacher in a rural part of Washington state. Our school has a diverse population with students who come from a variety of backgrounds and life experiences. Most of my students come from low income, bilingual, and farmworker homes who all qualify for a free and reduced lunch.

Our school and teachers work hard each and every day to provide all our students with the best and most equitable learning experience possible.

We cannot thank you enough for your generosity and support towards our classroom. We are very appreciative and thankful for your assistance and efforts to make sure each student has the opportunity to find success in second grade.

My Project

Students will be getting the math practice they need with addition and subtraction throughout the year. We focus on place value throughout and using the algorithm to solve double and triple digit addition and subtraction.

Having these books with exactly that will help my students get the repeated practice they need to become confident in their place value addition and subtraction strategy.

Repeated practice for math and reading will help my students understanding of the content. Having easy readers for the students who need a scaffolded book and flashcards with pictures will help them get the practice they need to be and feel successful in math and reading.
