My Students

We have created a little family in our classroom, and it is truly a place where they feel safe, at home, and loved. My students are the best! They are full of energy and always looking forward to our next musical adventure. Many of them have picked up a second instrument to help another section, or have been mentors to new players, which has helped the classroom so much. They are very excited for next semester and our upcoming performances in the school and throughout the community.

My Project

These instruments and supplies will go towards our music classrooms where students can learn how to play guitar and band instruments. Some of them will be replacing things that broke over time, or to make practicing at home easier for the students and their families.

Many students are not able to practice their instruments at home because they live in apartment buildings and/or have long commutes back home after school, making it too late to take out a trumpet or play drums.

In order for our band to make progress, I would like to encourage the kids to play more at home when they need extra practice on harder pieces. This would also help the newly formed Freshman Band become more familiar with their instruments, and learn how to properly make and sustain their sound.
